چکیده
The 17th International Computing and Combinatorics Conference (COCOON’2011) took place in Dallas, Texas, USA, August 14–16, 2011. COCOON’2011 provided a forum for researchers working in the areas of Theoretical computer science, discrete mathematics, and their Applications. Papers accepted for presentations of the conference have been through a tough review process. Each paper received at least Three review report and accepting rate is less than 40%. Papers in This special issue are selected from those presented in COCOON’2011, which received a review process again in order to meet the standard of TCS and to have substantial difference compared with conference version. Therefore, the journal version may either be more complete or contain more results. Indeed, some selected paper was rejected during the second review process. We thank all authors for submitting their papers to COCOON’2011. We are grateful to all members of the Program Committee and all external referees for their hardworkwith demanding time constraints. We thank conference local helpers and conference sponsors for their assistance and supports, especially, we wish to give special thanks to University of Texas at Dallas and the National Science Foundation of USA.

Cocoon within an abdominal cocoon
Intestinal obstruction is a fairly common surgical emergency that usually occurs due to herniae, adhesions, or bands. Rarely, uncommon causes such as an abdominal cocoon are encountered, where part or all of the small intestine is encased within a thin membrane. We report one such case of abdominal cocoon, in whom, further encasement of the distal ileum was seen within a separate membrane.
متن کاملShort Communication AVOIDANCE, WEIGHT LOSS, AND COCOON PRODUCTION ASSESSMENT FOR EISENIA FETIDA EXPOSED TO C60 IN SOIL
Eisenia fetida was used as a model terrestrial organism to assess the potential ecotoxicity of molecular pristine C60 in soil. Reproduction (assessed by counting cocoon numbers) was hindered only at very high C60 concentrations (5% by weight), and C60 (up to 1%) was not avoided and did not hinder earthworm growth. This suggests that E. fetida is unlikely to experience acute toxicity as a result...
متن کاملThe role of frass and cocoon volatiles in host location by Monodontomerus aeneus, a parasitoid of Megachilid solitary bees.
Monodontomerus aeneus (Fonscolombe) is a parasitic wasp that oviposits on the prepupae and pupae of Osmia cornuta (Latreille) and other solitary bee species. A two-armed olfactometer was used to test the olfactory attractiveness of O. cornuta prepupae, cocoon, and larval frass to female M. aeneus. Both cocoon and frass attracted the female parasitoids, but frass alone was more attractive than t...
متن کاملPost-Traumatic Intra-Cocoon Mesenteric Tear: A Case Report
Sclerosing peritonitis, more commonly called abdominal cocoon, is a rare intra-peritoneal disease that is characterized by complete or partial encapsulation of the small intestine by a thick collagenous membrane. This disease mostly presents in the form of small bowel obstruction, however in our case the patient presented with intra-cocoon bleeding following a motor vehicle accident.
متن کاملEffect of Salicylic Acid on Commercial Traits of the Bivoltine Crossbreed Races of the Silkworm, Bombyx mori L.
Topical application with 100, 200 and 300 ng/ml phytohormone salicyclic acid on commercial traits was analysed in bivoltine CSR2, CSR4 and CSR2XCSR4 crossbreed races of the silkworm, Bombyx mori L. The results showed that there was significant increase in larval weight female cocoon weight, male cocoon shell weight, and hatching percentage with 100 and 200 ng/ml, silkgland weight, female cocoo...
